We are pleased to share this year’s annual report from the Governing Body of Clockhouse Primary School. In line with Department for Education guidance, this report outlines the progress, impact, and effectiveness of the Governing Body over the past academic year and highlights the positive strides made across the school.
It has been another highly successful year for Clockhouse. The robust post-Ofsted improvement plans introduced following our outstanding rating are already producing measurable benefits. We are seeing encouraging progress in all key areas, with further strategies underway to sustain and build on this momentum.
The quality of teaching and learning remains consistently high. Our staff continue to provide an engaging, inclusive, and supportive educational experience for all pupils. The achievements of our Year 6 pupils in Reading, Writing, Maths, and Grammar have been particularly impressive, with a growing number working at greater depth. We are delighted by the progress individuals are making, regardless of their starting points.
Our curriculum remains a core strength of the school. Designed to meet the diverse needs of our pupils, it encourages accelerated academic and personal growth. Pupils enjoy a rich learning experience through a wide range of extracurricular activities, including clubs, educational visits, residential trips such as Condover Hall and the Isle of Wight, wow days, and guest speakers. These opportunities enhance pupils’ broader development and bring learning to life.
The Clockhouse curriculum is driven by six key principles: aspiration, challenge, creativity, global citizenship, cultural capital, and well-being. These shape all teaching and learning, supporting pupils academically while nurturing their personal growth. Through high expectations and inspiring opportunities, pupils are encouraged to aim high, think creatively, embrace challenges, and develop a strong sense of self and their place in the world. By embedding these drivers, we ensure learning is relevant and meaningful, preparing pupils with the knowledge, skills, and values to succeed academically and thrive as responsible, respectful global citizens.
We remain deeply committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community where every pupil can flourish. Our emphasis on emotional well-being is supported through structured systems, and our positive behaviour ethos helps every child feel confident and valued.
Strong partnerships with parents and carers continue to be central to our school community. We recognise that collaboration between home and school is vital to each pupil’s success and thank you for your ongoing involvement and support.
Our core values of nurture, respect, learning, community, excellence, and excitement guide all aspects of school life, helping prepare pupils to meet the future with confidence, resilience, and curiosity. To bring these values to life, we introduced our Value Characters this year, which help pupils connect behaviour with our core principles.
At Clockhouse, our mission and vision lie at the heart of everything we do. Our mission — “Our School – A family and a home for everyone, working and learning together to be the best that we can be” — reflects our commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and aspirational environment where every pupil feels valued.
Our vision portrays Clockhouse as more than a school; it is a true home where every individual is supported to grow and thrive. Each pupil is like a unique brick in a carefully built house, supported by the strength of community and care. Our shared values are the cement that holds us together, ensuring stability, safety, and belonging. The imagery of doors unlocking future success, windows reflecting growth, and trees flourishing through nurture captures the lifelong journey we aim to inspire in every learner. This vision shapes our daily work and long-term planning, preparing pupils not only for academic success but also for life beyond the classroom. At Clockhouse, the ringing bell signals that every pupil has a place, a voice, and a champion.
The Governing Body, consisting of 13 dedicated governors, continues to provide clear strategic leadership. We welcomed three new governors this year: Mrs Neal, Mrs Jones, and Mrs Wright, who bring valuable expertise to the team. Together, the Governing Body focuses on strong financial oversight, supporting the Headteacher and holding her accountable for the school’s educational performance, and guiding the strategic direction to ensure the vision remains ambitious yet achievable.
Our school leadership remains exceptional. The Headteacher and senior leaders demonstrate unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, staff development, and the welfare of the whole school community. Their vision and dedication have been central to our progress and will continue to drive future success.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the plans already in place for the next phase of development. These include targeted interventions to support pupil progress, investment in enrichment and innovation, and enhanced support for pupils with additional needs.
This year, our SEND unit reached full capacity, highlighting the growing need for specialist support and the effectiveness of our inclusive approach. We also completed a comprehensive review of Phonics teaching to ensure our methods remain evidence-based and effective. Additionally, we have embarked on the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Reading Project, reinforcing our commitment to literacy across the school.
It is with sadness that we say farewell to our Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Reinecke, who leaves a legacy of dedication and impact. We are delighted to welcome Mrs Abeledo as her successor and look forward to her contributions in the years ahead.
Finally, the next phase of classroom redecoration will take place during the summer holidays, continuing our investment in creating a vibrant and inspiring learning environment for all pupils.
